FIT employer partner Pei Wei Asian Diner provides Thanksgiving dinner to Las Vegas family
A lucky Las Vegas family recently received the components of a free Thanksgiving dinner basket because of a generous donation provided by Pei Wei Asian Diner general manager Aaron Archuleta, who is also an employer partner of Foundation for an Independent Tomorrow.
The family received a turkey, stuffing, potatoes, rolls, yams, corn and marshmallows for their special Thanksgiving dinner which was the result of conversations with FIT job developer Conrad Torres.
“Our company wanted to give back to the community this year,” explained the 27-year-old Archuleta, who has worked with Pei Wei Asian Diner for the past ten years. “We’re now planning to do this again for Christmas, so we’re working with two of our other Pei Wei Asian Diners next time.”
The Thanksgiving dinner basket was won by Augusta Wilson and his wife, Jennifer Travis along with their two daughters. Mr. Wilson is the client of FIT case worker Jessica Ommen
“We have had several clients that come through FIT for culinary training,” said Omen, who has been with FIT since July. “There is a great need for restaurant employees.”
Pei Wei Asian Diner has three restaurants in Southern Nevada. Archuleta’s Pei Wei Asian Diner is situated at 10830 West Charleston Boulevard. Torres said Archuleta is a hard worker who has worked his way up the ladder. “He’s a very good example of someone who believes in hard work,” said Torres, who has been with FIT for the past five months. “He’s living proof that hard work pays off.”
FIT, a non-profit agency situated at 1931 Stella Lake Drive near Martin Luther King Boulevard and Lake Mead Boulevard in the northwest Las Vegas valley, will celebrate its 20th anniversary Aug. 27, 2017. FIT graduates get jobs, and employers get excellent results.
Archuleta said he has worked closely with Torres in the past seeking employees who are qualified to work in his restaurant adding, “We appreciate the help we receive from FIT.”
