Foundation for an Independent Tomorrow celebrated its annual Client Holiday Party on Thursday, December 21, 2017.
What is the key to a successful holiday party you might ask? Food, refreshments, holiday music and a staff of less than thirty ready to party it up with the FIT clients and their families.
Our staff occupied the little ones with tons of crafts and game stations featuring Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza and Los Reyes Magos (The Three Wise Men). At these stations, FIT staff interact with the children enjoying activities such as the dreidel game, coloring stations, winter themed face painting and other various arts and crafts. During the course of the afternoon, each of the parents are invited to individually visit Santa’s Secret Workshop. While in the workshop, the parents can pick two gifts of their choice for their children and even wrap them up and discreetly go and hide them in their sleighs (or minivans if you will).
When sundown arrived, so did Santa! Santa, along with his FIT elf, came parading in with his sack full of toys to present to all the children he greeted. One FIT client told Santa that his daughter who was particularly enjoying her visit with Santa had never liked to sit in Santa’s lap before tonight. Santa, aka Anthony Gilyard, a former FIT employee loves playing Santa for FIT so much that he now volunteers his time to come out and play Santa every year. “As far as I am concerned I will always be Santa here at FIT” Anthony conveyed to the CEO and Founder, Janet Blumen.
A special thank you to Sandy & Steve Hardie who donate toys every year to Santa’s Workshop, Toys for Tots for their toy donations, Wells Fargo, Rob Sheridan and Cashman Photography for taking photos at the Client Holiday Party every year, the FIT staff for all their hard work putting the event together, and last, but definitely not least, the FIT Board of Directors who adopt our families and make monetary donations to the event year after year. We could not hold this event every year without your help and we thank you for all you do not just during the holidays, but year round!
