Too often supporters don’t get to see the real life impact that their donation makes in an individual’s life. Your investment is an investment in the local Las Vegas community and the people who thrive with your support…
Edwin is a 41 year old father with 2 young children. He came to FIT after being laid off in Hawaii and going through a painful divorce. He followed his children and ex-wife out to Las Vegas when they moved, hoping for a fresh start but soon found that he did not have the vocational education required to become employed in the trucking industry.
Edwin was out of work for over a year and even fell behind in his child support payments. He was getting desperate and didn’t know if he would be able to stay in Las Vegas with his children.
Edwin had the motivation and drive to succeed but lacked any kind of income that would assist him in his employment and training goals.
FIT provided funding for Edwin to attend Commercial Driving courses and eventually obtain his Commercial Driver’s License. Edwin is now employed as a long-hail trucker making $18 hourly and is able to return to providing his children with the support they need.
This is the impact that donations can make on just one family’s life.

FIT addresses southern Nevada’s future needs. The children of FIT clients learn from parents who are now able to provide for basic needs, stable housing, and a less stressful home environment. These factors decrease high school drop-out rates, as well as rates of incarceration and substance abuse. FIT clients provide their children with secure home environments and role-models of self-sufficiency, ending the cycle of generational poverty.
