The Workforce Development Project addresses the long term. It provides funding for vocational training to clients who do not have the technical skills or work experience required to qualify for a career that pays a sufficient wage to create financial stability. Clients are matched with a Case Manager who works with the client throughout their program. With the Case Manager’s help, the client performs an in-depth assessment and vocational testing to identify the barriers the client must address. This also helps the client select an appropiate career choice. The client receives guidance and mentoring and obtains the vocational skills needed to compete in today’s complex and ever-evolving job market.
The FIT program also offers more immediate assistance, particularly for people who must get a job right now. Clients are provided with job search skills and assistance, taught workplace readiness skills and may obtain support services, such as a bus pass or food vouchers.
