“I just hated to see people unable to move forward in their lives,” she said.
In the nearly 20 years since she began FIT, nearly 4,200 unemployed and underemployed Nevadans have found jobs that pay enough to make them able to support a family without public assistance.

Jessica, with 17 years of administrative background found her calling in non-profits. “I love getting up every day and knowing what I do makes a difference in someone’s life.”
She enjoys exploring Vegas with her husband and dogs and exercising.”

Bianca is pursuing a psychology degree from ASU. Customer service skills help her greet clients. She notes: “I love the atmosphere here. Everyone is very nice and involved with the clients.”
Bianca loves to bake and once owned a bakery.
Anyone and everyone who steps in the FIT facility always remarks how clean and beautiful our building is. That’s because of our Facility Manager, Tony. With FIT for eight years, Tony enjoys his collection of DVDs and riding his motorcycle.
Donna, B.A. Hofstra University, and a licensed CPA, is responsible for fiscal and compliance monitoring for each program and grant.
When Donna isn’t crunching numbers at the office, she enjoys spending time with her dog and her husband.
Fabiola, currently studying accounting at the College of Southern Nevada, says “Everyone here is very caring, loving and sincere about helping others. We all care about the community.”
She adds: “I enjoy hiking with my girls on the weekends.”

Jennifer, B.S.W. UNLV, M.S.W, USC and licensed Social Worker.
“It’s so rewarding to see people expand their horizons. We are the support system that gives people the guidance needed to make a living.”
“I enjoy reading and spending time with family.”
B.A., BYU-Hawaii, Schuyler says “We help clients break down barriers that they could not get past on their own. FIT’s team brings different strengths from different backgrounds that each help our clients.”
“I enjoy riding my motorcycle and working out.”
Alyssa, B.A., UNLV, loves giving back to the community. She also notes: “We become the support for our clients. This job requires excellent people skills along with patience.”
Her ways of re-charging include time with her family and working out.
Curtis, B.S, Sociology, Southern Utah University. “Our staff is selfless and I’m lucky to be part of what is a very dedicated gathering of Case Managers.”
An avid motorcyclist and fitness enthusiast, Curtis enjoys reading books such as Enders Game.
UNLV graduate, Ashley says: “Helping clients get on their feet is invaluable. I love the team here.”
In her time off, Ashley loves to read, spend time with her husband and cat, travel and attend events at the Smith Center.
Working towards a Psychology degree at UNLV, Rosa said “It’s such a good feeling seeing someone work their way up to a self-sufficient lifestyle after living through a difficult past.”
Rosa enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter.
A University of Phoenix graduate, Karina, said the key to FIT is the teamwork.
“There is no greater feeling than hearing success stories from our clients. Stories like that are so gratifying and it’s always rewarding to share their stories.”
Alfonzo graduated Mayville State University. “I got into this business because I love to help people. FIT is the perfect place to help people succeed.”
Alfonzo enjoys giving back through his basketball foundation and plays basketball whenever he has time.
Raquel is currently attending UNLV for her degree in Political Science. She said this of her FIT team “I love the strong friendships here and the humor.”
Raquel enjoys spending time at home relaxing with her pit bull.
Rita, B.A., Eastern Michigan University, recalls a highlight was the time a client called to wish her happy birthday. “Watching people beat the odds even when they doubt themselves is incredible.”
Rita loves to travel, read books and attend concerts.
Zakury will graduate in criminal justice from UNLV. Zakury notes: “Witnessing the absolute change in my clients after seeing what they have gone through is truly a very rewarding experience. My clients’ becoming successful is also part of my success.”
Keanu, Nevada State College criminal justice major, started with FIT as an intern: “The best part of this job is that we can help people, oftentimes when they are at their worst.”
Keanu enjoys spending time with his two dogs.
Conrad B.A. University of Phoenix, is a retired Albuquerque deputy sheriff.
“I deal with everyone ranging from hospitality and construction to administrative. It’s so much more fulfilling now to be helping people coming out of prison rather than arresting them.”
Anthony, B.A., human services, hosts mentoring classes. “Our speakers help us overcome adversity because like the rest of us, they have seen challenges some time during their life. Anyone who has struggled is welcome here to find a new direction.”
For five years, Salina has been the administrative support for the case management team. She notes: “We have a pretty awesome team. The group dynamic makes working here really pleasant.”
Salina enjoys sewing, baking and hanging out with her family.
Brandon has computing degrees from the University of the West of England and Bath College, “I love that we help people improve their lives and are a positive influence on them.” said Brandon.
Brandon enjoys kickboxing and riding his motorcycle.
